2013 VICTORIAN MANUFACTURING HALL OF FAME NOMINATIONS OPEN: INDIVIDUALS AND COMPANIES IN THE LOWAN ELECTORATE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY BY 15 FEBRUARY

Hugh Delahunty - Tuesday, January 22, 2013

The Nationals Member for Lowan Hugh Delahunty today called on companies and individuals in the Lowan Electorate to nominate for the 2013 Victorian Manufacturing Hall of Fame awards.
“The Hall of Fame awards showcase the most innovative and productive of Victoria’s manufacturing industry,” Mr Delahunty said.

“Established more than a decade ago, the awards are designed to demonstrate how locally based manufacturers can take on global markets.

“The awards highlight successful manufacturers who have innovated, diversified and embraced excellence.

“While Australian companies are facing challenges domestically and globally, there are many leading edge Victorian manufacturers that are carving out new markets.

“During its history, the Hall of Fame has recognised 127 companies, added 23 recipients to the Honour Roll and acknowledged nine Young Manufacturers of the Year.

“These award winners span the diversity of Victoria’s manufacturing sector: aeronautical, automotive, telecommunications, defence, printing, textiles, scientific instruments, health, packaging, marine, recycling and food.

“The 2013 Victorian Manufacturing Hall of Fame is now seeking individuals for nomination to the Honour Roll and for Young Manufacturer of the Year.
“Award categories also include Company of the Year for small, medium and large businesses,” Mr Delahunty said.
Nominations will close on Friday, 15 February 2013.
The awards will be announced at a gala presentation ceremony on Tuesday, 7 May 2013 at the Palladium Ballroom, Crown Entertainment Centre.
Nomination forms can be downloaded from: http://business.vic.gov.au/industries/manufacturing/awards

AUSTRALIA DAY MESSAGE

Hugh Delahunty - Wednesday, January 16, 2013

I encourage everyone in the Lowan Electorate to come together in their community and celebrate Australia Day, with pleasure and pride and to acknowledge our achievements and contemplate our future.

Australia Day this year will be an opportunity to thank the volunteers who give up so much of their time for our communities.

I would ask you to use Australia Day to think about fire fighters particularly those who battled the blazes in western Victoria, protecting human life, livestock and buildings.

Our national day is also an opportunity to remember the sacrifice of our service men and women in peace keeping operations around the world.

Australia Day is a special day to celebrate and give thanks for the freedoms, opportunities and protection we are afforded, we should also commit ourselves to more actively participating in building our great nation.

We have a rich history and culture, and a wonderful way of life.   The celebrations and commemorations on Australia Day are diverse – just like the people of our nation.

Australia Day was one day of the year to celebrate what’s great about Australia and being Australian.
